Microblading is the hot new way to get gorgeous eyebrows. This procedure implants pigment in your skin, helping to fill in brows and add more definition and shape. Microblading is a temporary procedure, but how long it lasts depends on how you handle the aftercare.
With proper microblading aftercare, your eyebrows can last as long as three years. Here’s how to make sure your procedure lasts as long as possible.

Within The First Few Hours Of Your Treatment
Microblading aftercare starts as soon as you get home. With a moistened cotton pad and a non-perfumed natural soap, gently wipe over your eyebrows to remove the cream applied by the microblading technician. Pat dry and then apply a very thin layer of the cream your microblading technician will have given you. It’s best to repeat this 3 to 5 times during the day, time permitting and dependent on what time you have the treatment.
To protect the eyebrows overnight, place a piece of cling-film over your brows. This will prevent them from drying out.
The First Week After Microblading Eyebrows
Your most important task for the first week after your microblading procedure is to keep your eyebrows dry. Don’t put any ointment or lotion on them, don’t wet them in the shower, and don’t put any product on them. When you wash your face, use a washcloth to gently wash around your eyebrows.
When you’re in the shower, keep your face out of the shower stream, and don’t take long showers since the steam can damage your brows. Keep a clean, dry washcloth on hand to gently pat them dry if they do get damp. If your skin starts to feel tight, you can dab a little bit of coconut oil on the brows.
The Second Week Post Microblading
After a week, you can start applying post-care ointment to the brows. You should do this once a day and make sure your hands are completely clean when you do it. Also, don’t use too much of the ointment; your skin will heal on its own.
You need to continue to avoid makeup, product, and sweat on your eyebrows for the first two weeks. Avoid any strenuous exercise, and don’t go swimming or go to saunas. Make sure you also avoid the temptation to pick at the dry skin flaking off your eyebrows; this is natural.
The First Month After Microblading
After two weeks, you can get back to your customary workout and hygiene routines, but still, be careful with your new brows. You may notice some change in the colour as you progress through the healing phases. This is normal, and you need to allow the process to work.
Once your brows have healed, apply a layer of SPF 30 suncream to them every time you’re in the sun. Be sure to avoid touching your brows or putting too much product on them. The colour should even out to its baseline tone within a month after application.
What’s To Be Avoided
In the first 7 days, avoid workouts that involve a lot of sweating, and hold off on going to a sauna or steam room or getting a facial. Avoid putting on makeup for the week following your treatment and only put the special cream on or near your eyebrows.
In the next 30 days, avoid sunbathing, solarium light therapies, chemical peeling, fruit acids, microdermabrasion and creams that contain regeneration factors. Always avoid laser treatments over the treated area because they can destroy the pigment and cause burns. Use of antibiotics and hormonal therapy can lead to a faster pigment fading.
